As the glass shattered around him and Jacob, Zero initially brought his arms up to cover himself and make sure no glass got embedded in him anywhere. However, that didn't seem to be necessary as the glass shards simply seemed to dance around them, catching their reflections. For a moment, the nobody lowered his blade and turned away from Jacob so that they were back to back, peering into the shards and taking a moment to admire what he saw of himself.

...I look just like him...For somebody who got their heart ripped out by some Heartless a little while back...well, I guess could look worse.

That was when a piece of paper seemed to collide with his face seemingly out of nowhere. Zero blinked and reached up, pulling the paper off of his face and reading the contents. It seemed to tell him to look down, but it was pointing up...

Zero looked down.

Down was the sky.

And then he was falling away from the sky.

The nobody turned his gaze to the direction 'down' really was at the moment as he fell, watching the ground and Neona grow larger and larger. She seemed to lay some kind of cards out beneath him and Stephan, but if he was seeing things right, it didn't look like Jacob's was particularly spot-on. Of course, he didn't know exactly what these cards did or how she felt about him, but he generally caught the gist of how she felt about Stephan and Jacob and if he was getting the same kind of landing pad Stephan was getting and Jacob wasn't getting, he felt pretty alright in trusting that it wouldn't kill him. Again.

That said, he still closed his eyes as he neared the card on the ground just in case he had it all wrong and he really was about to fall to his death in the sand.

The nobody never hit the ground, falling right into the card and hovering in the air. He opened his eyes and glanced around from his suspended position, relieved that everything had worked out, before maneuvering his way back down to the ground in the zero gravity card he was one. Once he was safely back on land, he stepped off the card and looked to Neona for a moment.

His face still expressionless and deadpan, he kept his sword in one hand and brought his arms up on either side of his head, as if to say 'ta-da'.

Stephen swatted the paper out of his face and blinked hard. Falling out of the sky he looked around for Jacob. He wouldn't let anyone touch Neona, even if he had to hurt his best friend. Stephen threw Abyssal Ruins at his friend. He saw the card that was slightly misplaced. Perfect. Stephen blinked to his Keyblade and spiked Jacob, the wicked winds from his Areoga cut into Stephen. He used the backwards momentum from the Areoga to get a hold of the card as Jacob descended even faster towards the ground.

Small cuts all over his arms stung as he slowly reached the ground. "If you want to get to her you'll have to kill me Jacob. The Darkness said to kill the only the Light wielder's who were a threat to the balance!" Stephen screamed in fury.

Fire once again swirling around his Keyblade as his resolve grew stronger. His left arm began to burn with pain. Damn that Areoga fucked my arm up. Stephen always fought recklessly, but that attack had been beyond stupid. He hurt himself more then he had Jacob because of the superior defensive magic.

One moment Jacob was back to back with Zero his battle with Stephen being interrupted by him and the intensity of the moment was getting to him his blood boiling and his battle senses turning on. His grip on Ends of the Earth tightened he started to turn to lash out at Zero but suddenly a piece of paper smacked him in the face. " Da Fuck!" Jacob verbalized his confusion.

He peeled it off from his face and looked annoyed at the message as it told him to look down but was pointed to the wrong direction. What a stupid fucking piece of paper. he thought to himself as he looked at "down" which actually was down to Jacob's surprise. " What the literal hell." Was all he managed to get out before Stephen who had gathered his bearings before Jacob promptly was spiked like a volleyball in the Olympic volley ball games towards the ground.

He hit the sand hard and was thrown around like a rag doll before pulling himself off the ground half a ways and spitting out a mouth full of sand. " This is fucking lunacy." he said to himself as he stood up and started dusting himself off his face was rubbed raw from the sand and he had a really banged up hip from the fall but he still was standing and gripping and he was angry. He saw Neona he recognized what Stephen was saying but he refused to accept it so he charged at her with a furious battle cry.

Neona saw Jacob rushing at her, and her face twisted into one of unfortunate realization. He was rushing towards her with a rage that seared her soul, threatened her existence. She wondered why for a moment. Why was he so angry....? He was coming at her with a rage she had very little experience with, and it worried her, scared her. It was too late to get away... he was upon her now. Her hands went to cover her face in vain, a pitiful gesture at this point.

His attack of blind rage caught her right in her middle. Her tiny form was almost sent flying, but she was so weak and frail and soft that even that the force actually did more than just knock her away. Despite the blunt chains on the keyblade, the weapon tore into her form with a ripping of cloth and the sopping sounds of blood and flesh being sepparated with reckless abandon filled the air. He cleaved her exactly in half, blood spurting from the two halves and soaking the sand below them. Squelching noises could be clearly heard, and a possible piece of intestine started to stretch between the two halves before the keyblade severed it and it hung limply in the air. Muscle, sinew, bone, and the little bit of fat left in her body were all visible. He cut her very neatly even, Neona applauded him for it. He had a lot of pride in his work, clearly. Her face still displayed fear.

Blood stained all her clothes.

Everything seemed to be happening in slow motion. Neona's top was now completely separated from her middle, and it was beginning to rotate around in the air from the force. Blood spread out in the air as she twisted away from their view, turning so that the back of her head was visible. Her legs buckled and the separated peice of her body began to collapse.

As her torso turned back around, however, something was clearly different.

Her face had changed to a ;D expression, sticking her tongue out the slightest bit.

Booom.

The two halves of the Neona clone exploded into magnificent and colorful fireworks, lighting the night sky. A constellation circus lit up on the beach, surrounding the boys with excitement and wonder. Large installation tents lined the beach. Constellation tigers jumped through constellation hoops held by constellation lion tamers. Clowns danced through the streets in between the tents. The smell of carnival food was strong in the air, where it had not been before. It was a beautiful utopian fantasy.

In the center, spotlights lit up a stage. On that stage was Neona, dressed for the male part of a tango.

Suddenly, Jacob was in a dress.

Suddenly, Neona was next to him, clicking some castanets.

She tossed the castanets away. She grabbed Jacob and began to lead him in a powerful and emotional tango, not giving him enough time to think as she whirled him around the dance floor, looking powerfully into his eyes. Passion filled the dance floor. People could be heard clapping and cheering and laughing.

She went to dip him.

She smiled at him and winked.

Instead of pulling him back up, she let go. She dropped him. He didn't hit the sand like he might have expected, instead he dropped into a portal and was swallowed up.

Neona clicked the castanets that she suddenly had again and took a bow.

This Will Be Awkward - Page 3 Empty Re: This Will Be Awkward

Post by Pikashock Tue Jan 17, 2017 1:50 am

Everything stopped for Zero.

Between his landing, and his confusion at why exactly he had been playing along with Neona's act, the nobody hadn't been listening for the other two. He hadn't heard Stephan's declaration of protection, or Jacob's cursing. He hadn't even heard the latter's battlecry and charge as he'd gone right past Zero.

There had been absolutely no warning for the nobody. No chance to react. And then just as quickly Neona was dead.

The last image of the girl bringing her arms up as a pitiful final defense burned into his head like an afterimage. Fear, confusion, all of it was caught in her face in the final moments. And why had she even been involved? Because she wielded a keyblade of light? Just because Jacob's was dark, and Neona's was light, this was the result? Maybe there was more behind it, but Zero couldn't look beyond that.

There was a warmth in his palms and on his face, and as his sword dropped to the sand from trembling hands, he brought his arms down and looked to them as if he were seeing them for the first time, as if they were foreign to him. There was blood there. Neona's. He wanted to scream, wanted to blink and see it disappear. That didn't belong there, she didn't belong there, he didn't belong there. They were supposed to be at Radiant Garden, loitering around the place, eating together, talking together, being friends.

No matter his blinks, it remained in that span of seconds that felt like years. Blood he'd befriended, he'd cared for, he'd watched out for, defended, died for...

Tyler died for. Tyler did all that.

...maybe. But even if Tyler had done it, Zero sure as hell remembered it. It was there now. He couldn't...

Wait. He'd died for that blood. If she was gone now, if she wasn't alive now, then what he did was utterly worthless. He'd died protecting her, to keep her safe, to keep her alive. If she was gone now, then she might as well have died before. His sacrifice was fully useless, and he'd become Zero for no good reason.

There was a wealth of things he knew he should be feeling. Pain and grief, from losing a friend. Anger and wrath at the circumstances and the worthlessness of his own sacrifice. Confusion. Anguish. All sorts of things he was supposed to be feeling, but he couldn't. It felt like every single goddamn emotion was trying to force itself on him at once, and yet none of them could come out. Like an overwhelming flood trapped behind a barely held-up dam, it was like he could feel his heart suffering worlds away and yet he himself couldn't feel anything.

He couldn't even shed any tears for his friend.

The Nobody dropped to his knees and clutched his head, gritting his teeth at the immense pain he was struggling to endure. Something was wrong. He took a sharp gasp of breath, before he fell back into the sand, twitching ever so slightly as everything went black.

~~~
Everything felt fuzzy to him here, but he could make out a few images. The profile of the moon in a darkened sky. A hill emerging from a pumpkin patch, but it didn't end like most hills did. The top curved and spiraled in on itself, making for a strange centerpiece to the whole area. Sitting down near the base of the hill seemed to be a human figure, eyes fraught with worry and hands twitching.
Zero could recognize the human. After all, who wouldn't recognize their own body?
There was a crackling of static and a flash, like his head was struggling to relay the message to him. In a few moments, however, the picture cleared up. There was a girl approaching him, about his age. She seemed to run over to him, but as he looked up to her, he scrambled up and reached for a weapon of his own. She seemed to pause and stagger back, bringing her arms up.
She wasn't Neona. He had no idea who she was in his state now.
The two began to talk, and though their speech was muffled, he could read their lips as he looked between the two.
"D-don't come closer! I saw you die, I saw you-"
"Tyler, calm down. Please. I don't know what you saw, but it didn't happen."
He seemed to lower his hand away from his weapon as she spoke, but he still seemed apprehensive. Unsure.
"B-but..."
"It must have just been another one of this place's scares. Halloween Town's full of them."
There were a few more moments of silence between the two after the exchange. Tyler seeming unsure of what to believe. The other girl seeming scared that he'd turn on her. But suddenly, he stepped forward and seemed to pat her shoulder. She blinked, but he seemed to take the ability to feel her as confirmation that it really was her. He reached around and grasped the girl in a hug, and she returned the favor to him.
"Don't scare me like that again, you hear me?" He mouthed out to her.
"Yeah, sure. I will if you will. Don't try and pull a weapon on me again, okay?" She mouthed to him.
And that was where it ended. As he felt himself fade back into unconsciousness once more, he made sure to make note of what he'd seen. It wasn't something he remembered already, it was new to him. And it seemed to bring more questions than answers. Who was the girl he was with? Was that before he met Neona? He couldn't remember ever leaving Radiant Garden before he'd met Neona, was that stuff all wrong?
With all those questions, however, there was an answer he knew. A truth: he'd been in a place called Halloween Town. If he was going to try and piece everything about himself together, that seemed like the logical next step.
But for now, he'd catch just a little sleep...
As Jacob screamed out and dashed for Neona, Stephen knew he only had seconds to get this right. Spinning in a full circle like an Olympic disc thrower he closed his eyes. I'll keep you safe. There was a fire burning in his eyes as they opened, his back now to where Jacob should be. Completing the circle Stephen threw Abyssal Ruins as hard as he could. The Keyblade ripped through the air towards his friend. I'm sorry Jacob, you gave me no choice. He closed his eyes and fell to his knees gripping his left shoulder. He was positive his collar bone was broken and his shoulder dislocated, but he'd live; Jacob on the other hand would meet his ruins.
Stephen heard the crushing sound of skin and bone. He could smell the blood. It was over.
With tears in his eyes he slowly opened them and looked up. No. Neona was in two and Jacob was covered in blood. No. Tears streamed from Stephen's eyes as he searched for his Keyblade. No. He had narrowly missed Jacob by a few inches. No. Stephen saw the terrible look on Neona's face. "No!" Stephen screamed from the ground.
Fumbling to stand up Stephen desperately called of Abyssal Ruins, but much like his balance he couldn't get it. On his hands and knees he closed his eyes and clenched his fist in anger. This was the first time he had ever felt truly defeated. He unclenched his fist and rolled onto his good side as he gripped his arm in pain. I let her down, and now she's gone. Stephen felt nothing. He wasn't angry. He wasn't sad. He felt empty. Abyssal Ruins slowly faded from the crater it had made.
Everything around him had faded to black. After a few seconds lights started to flash and weird sounds and music floated through the air. Sweet scents of candy seemed to appear from nothing. Stephen opened his eyes and saw a stage. What the fuck? Jacob was wearing a rather revealing dress and Neona was tangoing with him. Stephen skewed his face. What the actual fuck is happening?
Neona dipped Jacob and he had fell into a portal. Stephen looked around to see where Jacob had gone to, but there was nothing. Neona was alive. Stephen tried to get to his feet, but collapsed in pain from his injuries. "You're okay?" Stephen whispered as he looked at Neona.
There was a long pause for a moment, time seemed to stand still. He saw the gores and pieces, lots of gore fly around him as blood seemed to spray out like loose fire hydrant. I didn't, that's not what.. how did my simple attack cause this much damage?   Jacob had never landed such a clean hit before. He was such a power house slugger that he always had the potential to do damage like but in actuality it was incredibly unlikely for Jacob to hit. Normally he relied on Stephen to distract and do damage while he tanked and got grazing hits but this time as his massive club ripped apart Neona he didn't know how to feel.I... I guess I win?
Then hell broke loose...
He saw Neona flip over with a rather mischievous expression that could only mean bad things. Here we go..
Before Jacob could even finish his though he was stuck on a stage in a slutty dress with Neona next to him in a black leather pants and a silky red shirt all brought to a perfect T with a fake black mustache. "What am I-" for the second time Jacob was disturbed mid thought as he was launched into an elaborate tango dance routine before finally being dumped off into a light portal.
After a moment of sparkly shiny lightness  travel...
Jacob plomped down into a bed room he did not recognize. He was laid down in a bed in the middle of what appeared to be a master bed room. "I am insane... I must be this is the only explanation. " Jacob reasoned and as he tried to reason he heard the rushed sounds of someone running upstairs and in came the mom of an Abby Milkens from the main isle of Destiny Island. Jacob had liked Abby a little in middle school and that had maintained a relatively positive relationship in high school but he did not expect to see her mother in a compromising situation like this. As Jacob's face turned a rosy red and this concerned parent started yelling he quickly opened a  dark portal and booked it.
This Will Be Awkward  - Page 3 Empty Re: This Will Be Awkward
Post by FoxFireAlchemist Tue Jan 17, 2017 11:47 pm
Neona looked around at the other two boys once Jacob was out of the picture for a bit, and shock took her heart. She saw their faces... Zero had collapsed(??!), Stephen looked so upset..... her heart sunk like lead into the pit of her stomach.
"Oh no..... what have I done??? This is too much!!!"
She felt like she was going to cry. She looked like she was about to cry. She didn't know who to run to first.
Suddenly she was with Stephen, back in her usual flashy outfit, hugging him and crying. It was while she was hugging him that she noticed the horrific wound on his arm. Mortified, she quickly cast a Curaga, hovering her hand over the wound while the other still clung to him dearly. Her mind was in a million places at once, and without the use of her hands she could hardly communicate anything. For a moment, she was a complete wreck.
She forced herself to take a deep breath and focus on patching on Stephen. One thing at a time, she told herself, one thing at a time. Once she was sure he was okay, she pulled back a little bit and pulled a stack of white cards out of her hat. She flipped the stack over, revealing text.
"I'm sorry, I'm okay," the first one read. She sniffled and cried as she flipped the card to the back of the deck, showing more text on the card behind. "I'm sorry, I overdid it, I really overdid it, I'm sorry"
"I shouldn't have done something that would scare you so much....."
"It all happened so fast, I didn't get a chance to warn you...."
"I should have warned you, I'm sorry!!! You have every right to be mad at me!!"
She looked at his shoulder, wanting to put her head on it, but she wasn't sure if she was allowed to do that anymore.
On the other side, another Neona was also with Zero (also in a more familiar form)... but she wasn't sure what to do? She did her best work with Curaga, but it didn't seem to wake him up... What was she supposed to do with him, anyways...? Was he really Tyler...? She was still so confused...
She would sit with him anyway. Part of her was still with him. He seemed confused and in turmoil, too... even if he wasn't who he used to be, they still shared that. He deserved to wake up not alone. She quietly wished for him to have good dreams until he woke up. Maybe they could get some of this figured out...
She shed more tears with him as it all weighed heavily on her mind.
Around everyone, the scene started to shift. The island melted away into a warm, bright atmosphere. A night with three moons, brightening the setting to nearly day. A setting that might be familiar to certain some people.
This Will Be Awkward  - Page 3 Empty Re: This Will Be Awkward
Post by Pikashock Sat Jan 28, 2017 1:39 am
It seemed like sleep wasn't a pleasure Zero was going to be afforded just yet. At first, he thought he'd been closing his own eyes and that was why the scene before him was darkening, but as he blinked his eyes, he could see that everything around him actually was getting darker and darker, until he was left in a pitch black surrounding. That was when the weightless floating he'd been sending stopped, and he could feel himself falling downward. The nobody tried to bring his arms up, or kick his legs, flail, anything, but he couldn't move. Instead he was simply stuck in a fall downward into the darkness.
He couldn't tell how long he had been falling for. Maybe it was only seconds or minutes, maybe it was even hours or longer. To him, it felt like ages. Eventually, however, he began to feel himself slow and stop. As he did, the scenery around him began to build itself once more. This time he fully recognized where he was. Between the stonework and the gardens all around, he could easily see that it was Radiant Garden. Namely, the main square, given the fountain in the middle of the plaza.
Tyler was there, but he wasn't alone in this image, though. Far from it. There were tons of heartless in the center, and somewhere behind him, was Neona. Once again, Zero couldn't hear voices from either of them, but with the fighting going on it was hard for him to see exactly what was being said.
Tyler was tired, that much was clear. Swear was dripping down his face, and his swings with his weapon were getting sloppier. He was slicing through the heartless, but it was clear he wouldn't be able to keep it up for long. Zero couldn't help but notice that Tyler was well aware of that fact. His face was somber and weary, but there was still a fire burning there. Most likely because Neona was still there.
Tyler looked back to her and seemed to yell something. If Zero had to take a guess, he was telling her to get out of there. He couldn't afford to look back at her for long, as he brought his attention back to the heartless once more. There were too many of them there for either of them to take, together or not. Maybe if the castle guards had showed up, they could take them, making Zero wonder where exactly they were...
Neona finally seemed to turn and clamber up a tree, working on getting away. That reminded him of what she had been planning to do: going to get the castle guards, his father included, to help. He supposed that answered his previous thoughts on where the guards were.
He appreciated the gesture, but he knew how this ended already.
It was around this time that it happened, after Neona had left, and Zero grimaced slightly. One final misjudged slice, one tired swing, was all it took in the situation for Tyler to mess up. A soldier heartless lunged in at him, and slashed. Its claws tore through his front in an instant, and there was a look of pain and shock on Tyler's face. There were a lot of emotions apparent in that final moment. Sadness, frustration, worry. Had he held them up long enough to keep them off the town's residents before help arrived? Would Neona be safe? Would she be alright without him around? Was he satisfied with everything?
The last thought on his mind was about Neona. He wasn't going to be able to see his friend again. The sight of her running for help was surely the last time he'd see her. He tried to remember what the last thing he'd said to her before this situation came up was, but he couldn't think of it.
Tyler collapsed, and the swarm of Heartless descended on him. Thankfully, the scene didn't linger too long for Zero. Once more, it faded and he began to fall through darkness again. At the bottom of this drop, the darkness cleared into another area. This place was dark, and urban looking, just in front of a skyscraper. Zero could recognize it as The World that Never Was.
Laying there on the ground in front of the skyscraper was Zero himself. Not Tyler, but Zero. The nobody opened his eyes and blankly stared up at the sky. He could see the moon overhead.
Unknowingly, he brought up his arm and reached for it longingly, before closing his eyes and dropping his arm back to the ground.
From there, the scene of his "birth" went black, and he began to fall once more. He fell again, the scenes he'd just witnessed fresh in his mind. He still couldn't place the first in his head, at Halloween Town, but he could certainly place the latter two. Tyler's death, and Zero's birth. Zero didn't quite know what to think, but there was one thing he knew for sure: he wanted to get out of here, now.
Again, he stopped in his falling. This time, however, there was nothing around him as far as surroundings went. It felt like he was standing on something, but everything was pitch black, except for...
Zero had to take a moment to absorb the sight in front of him. Before him, there were three other people, all looking just like himself. One was sitting on the ground in a clump, gazing off into the darkness absentmindedly. Another laid on the 'ground' with his eyes closed, seeming like he was in a deep sleep.
The last stood between the other two and stared at the nobody with a grin, crossing his arms and offering a grin.
"You must be in some serious trouble if you've ended up here." The more emotive copy spoke, closing his eyes and shaking his head as he did so. There was something weird about hearing his voice come from somebody else who looked just like him, but the nobody wasn't too surprised by it.
"Who are you?" Zero questioned calmly, starting to step closer to the standing other him.
"That's a hard question. I guess you could say I'm Tyler, but I'm not really." The other responded after a moment's consideration, his grin starting to fall into a more bittersweet smile as he thought about how to phrase it. "What you're seeing here are memories. I'm Tyler's memories, so I'm most like him, but I'm still not him. After all, I'm just memories. I don't exactly have a heart myself or anything."
"Tyler's...memories? Including the blank spots?" That certainly caught the Nobody's attention as he stepped even closer to Tyler.
"Can you show me Tyler's memories? If they're all here, I need to know-"
"Woah, woah, woah. No, not yet." Tyler interrupted him, taking a step back and bringing his arms up, before pointing to his head.
"You're not thinking right. One trigger of your memory just made you unconscious and caused you to get so lost in yourself that you ended up here. How do you think taking all of Tyler's memories at once is going to feel? You'll crack at best, and at worst you'll lose track of who you are and end up lost inside yourself forever."
The prospect of that didn't sound too good to Zero. He already disliked it enough here as it was, without having to worry about being stuck here together.
"So, you're saying that if I want to regain my memories without breaking myself, I'm going to have to trigger them myself one at a time and go on a hunt for familiar places?"
"I said absolutely nothing of the sort, but I was going to eventually. Considering how we're connected, I'm not surprised you already figured it out. Y'know, considering I'm technically part of your 'thoughts'."
Zero nodded his head, understanding and doing his best to ignore Tyler's somewhat snarky and somewhat jovial attitude about the situation.
"Right...so if you're Tyler, who are these two?" The nobody gestured over towards the sleeping and sitting figures. Turning to look at them both, Tyler thought again for a moment.
"So the sitting guy. That's you, basically. All of your memories, as Zero. We can call him Zero Jr. if you want, it feels fitting. Say hi to Zero Jr."
Zero refused to say a word to the recently dubbed Zero Jr. despite Tyler's command.
"Right, alright then. As for the sleeping guy...that's more complicated. He was here back when you were Tyler. My best guess is he's some kind of deeper, hidden memories that not even Tyler could remember. Whatever it is, I haven't even been able to see any of them."
That was certainly troubling to hear.
"So you're saying that not even Tyler had all of his memories in order...so whoever I remember myself being as Tyler..."
"...there's something else we're both missing, that we need to find. Gradually, of course. Don't break your mind." Tyler finished Zero's thoughts for him, nodding his head as he thought about it. It all made sense to the nobody. Well, as much as something like this could make sense.
That was when the other versions of Zero started to vanish. First, the sleeping version disappeared, and the sitting version seemed to be following.
"We're just about out of time here. Look, if you keep diving down here inside yourself, you'll just get lost forever. You need to find something close to you, something special that you can hold onto. Something to bring you back to the outsi-" Before he could finish, Tyler disappeared, leaving Zero alone again in nothing but darkness.
...
Something special. Something to hold onto. Just as he was thinking about what that might be, there was a soft, radiant light glowing in the darkness. It started out further overhead, but quickly glided down towards him. The light itself seemed to take shape just as it approached the nobody, forming into the shape of a girl. A very familiar one.
This glowing Neona smiled and held out her hand. After a second of deliberation, Zero reached out and grabbed the light-formed figure by the hand.
Zero finally opened his eyes back up, and found himself waking up to a familiar place. The atmosphere felt warm. There were three moons overhead in the sky. Neona was alive, and she was sitting with him. As that last thought came to mind, he put two and two together. The illusions she'd been making before, the death he'd seen must have been fake. Part of him wanted to tell Neona exactly what he thought of her little 'game' with her death, but the other part was too happy to see her alive to worry about that.
Zero felt like he was at home again. He sat up and groaned a little, still recovering from his little trip into his mind as he looked around. Stephan didn't seem to be on this cloud with him, and Jakob seemed to be out of sight. Looking back to the Neona that was with him, he looked at her for a moment. She was definitely the one who had helped pull him back out from the depths he'd been falling into. It must have been her light down there, in her form.
"This doesn't change anything." Said the nobody who, after denying any feelings or knowledge of his old friend, had been so disrupted on a personal level by her death that he'd gone unconscious, dropped through three levels of memories, and had a conversation with the personification of Tyler's memories, discovering that there was a third, sleeping set of memories besides his and Tyler's that neither of them knew about.
This Will Be Awkward  - Page 3 Empty Re: This Will Be Awkward
The flat circular portal of darkness popped in a couple of yards off from the group of key bladers on the cloud filled field that was now where destiny Island should have been. Jacob stepped out onto the airy cloud, the feeling was light as his foot hit the fluffy stuff. It took him a moment to find his footing but when he did he could tell this ground wouldn't be restrictive. He looked up and saw the astounding vastness of the moon so close to the surface, he felt for a startling moment that the entirety of the worlds axis was going to be thrown off kilter and the entirety of the ocean's tide that he assumed was still there would be thrown on top of him and he flinched putting up his keyblade in defense...
He realized how stupid that was and quickly changed his grip of Ends of the Earth to rest on his shoulder. The seriousness of the situation hit him now as he started to walk up to the area his previous combatants were. His aeroaga had worn off when he first entered the light portal Neona had sent him in so now it was just him in his base form. He closed the distance between them slowly he mulled a lot of things over he needed to decide things here before he made a decision he would regret.
There are two things you hold sacred Jacob, you defend the dark and Stephen is your brother, since there at odds right now you have to pick... and you have to pick now. He stopped now a little ways off. Stephen seemed fixed up a bit now his arm no longer looked like it might have been broken from the back lash of his areoaga, Jacob could only assume he still felt some kind of damage from before. Jacob himself still had his bad hip from the fall.
He took his right hand and grasped the clasp around the end of one of his heavy chains the weigh was intense in it he knew but he had the feeling that even as he took it off this heavy weight on his chest he now felt would not be lifted. He was really about to fight Stephen, his friend, his best friend. Stephen who was the right amount of level headed and sarcastic to balance his impulsive and melodramatic tendency. The same Stephen that had searched for him relentlessly for a whole year. He had done all that and yet he still stood by this girl, this girl Jacob didn't even know, the girl who was their natural enemy as far as Jacob was concerned.
" Steph I don't want to do this, don't make me do this." Jacob croaked the words almost choked up in his throat as his hand tightened on the clasp of his chain.
When Neona was done healing Stephen's shoulder and flipping through cards he hugged her tight. "Everything is alright." He whispered softly, "as long as you're okay, I'm okay." He could feel the sand change to feel a little softer and way different. He looked around and saw the new scene. Stephen slowly stood up and noticed Zero on the ground next to another Neona. He didn't question it at this point.
A dark portal opened up and Jacob had stepped out wearing his normal clothes. Abyssal ruins shot out of the swirling darkness and appeared in Stephen's hand. He quickly stepped in between Jacob and the Neona he assumed was the real one. His shoulder still hurt from what had happened. The dull pain radiated and stung as he moved around.
"Steph I don't want to do this, don't make me do this."
Stephen took a deep breath. "I'm not the one making you do this." His words were filled with regret. He knew what was going to happen next. Stephen didn't want to fight his best friend, not like this. They had fought before, but it was never like this. He knew there was only one way this was going to end, but he'd be damned if he let that happened. No one was going to die here.
"Just let her leave and we'll call it." Stephen pleaded, "you know I don't want this to happen." He knew there would be few punches pulled in this fight. Stephen readied himself as Jacob pulled off the chains. Jacob's keyblade wouldn't be weighed down as much, but both of them would be mentally weighed down as they fought.
"There's always a choice to make, even if it feels wrong and goes against everything you know."
This Will Be Awkward  - Page 3 Empty Re: This Will Be Awkward
She gripped Stephen back, she really wanted to just forget about all this and work out one thing at a time. She felt terrible about all this, all the problems... but it seemed like they weren't going to have the time to wade through it now as Jacob tensed up and got in front of her.
Neona frowned when she saw the other boy was back from his trip generally unchanged. Where had he gone? She had intended to send him somewhere that might have made him happy, somewhere to cool off... She thought a lake or something would be nice. Clearly he didn't end up there, though. So, what had happened...? She wracked her brain to try and figure out another solution, to stitch together another solution, to try and work this out.
She had caused this after all.
She wanted to help fix it.
...As she listened to them talk, though, she realized something. There... wasn't much she could do here. It would all just come back to this, wouldn't it? They wouldn't give up? What was it they wanted so bad? Whatever it was, she hoped they would figure it out soon. She hoped this could be worked out.
Meanwhile with Zero.... What didn't change anything? She looked at him, perplexed and a bit confused. Was it... the illusion or something? Was that what didn't change anything? Or maybe because she was sitting with him? She couldn't tell.
"I don't know what you mean exactly, but.... if it's about this place..... I brought it up because it's a good place to clear your head." She smiled fondly at warm memories. "This is all very confusing.... but it kinda feels like there's no intervening. I don't know what to do..." She shyly avoided eye contact, still unsure of how to handle this whole situation. She watched herself twiddle her thumbs around for a moment. "Umm... do you need anything? For, um.... cause you fainted....."
Zero tried his best to listen to Neona, but he found himself distracted at some points by the conversation Stephan and Jacob were sharing. They were further away, so it was hard to hear all of it, but he could hear bits and pieces of what the two were saying. They didn't...they didn't seem to want to fight one another, but they both had something to protect, something that mattered to them. And those things were in direct conflict right now. And that meant Neona was still in danger.
"I'll be fine. Those two...whatever this is, they need to figure it out on their own, just the two of them. As long as you stay here with the two of them right now, you're going to be in danger." He stated callously, keeping a cold distance from expressing any personal feelings or opinions on the situation and instead using objective facts. Looking over at the Neona with Stephan, and then back to the one by him, he sighed.
"If you're the fake and that's the real you over there with them, I can't protect you from here. All I could do is make a portal for you to use to get out of here, but...you wouldn't take that knowing the two of them are still fighting, would you?" Zero continued to ask, having a feeling he knew the answer to that. Considering everything he knew and remembered about the girl, he didn't think she would take his offer to get out of harm's way with both of them still in danger. He was hoping she'd prove him wrong, but he didn't think she would. He'd just have to figure out a way to keep her safe as best he could.
He still wouldn't admit if he cared about her or not. But all subjective thoughts, memories and pseudo-emotions aside, Neona had been able to reach him when he was lost and brought him back. She was the constant Tyler's memories had told him about, at least, he was pretty sure. He'd have to keep her safe.
Thunk, Thunk, Thunk, The heavy thuds of Jacob chains hitting the ground began to fill the space between the two of them. As the last of his chains hit the ground all of them faded into a shroud of darkness whisked away and left to nothing. Jacob unzipped his jacket and let it drop from his person landing on the clouds off to the side, he wanted to be unrestricted and light when he used his keyblade like this, he had not used this form since the birth of it's conception. He raised the Keyblade now with one hand holding it side long it covered his face now he couldn't meet Stephen's eyes to stare, it would give him pause and he needed a firm resolve.
Stephen please, you don't understand. You always just did whatever you liked and I don't. he took a shaky breath and gripped his keyblade harder. No no stop! Now it's time for action the time for talking is over. He told himself.
Now with a new resolve in his look and demeanor he approached Stephen slowly at first then with an aggressive gesture of his Keyblade he began his assault. The full beauty of Jacob's keyblade could only be seen when in motion, truly a spectacular event. The curve of the golden weapon with jewels encrusted along the edges and finally ending with the head of the key two uniquely shaped pieces extending to complete the key shape. But the way the light played and glowed across it in a morose and sad way the shape making the light hold and create a halo like effect around Jacob was the glamorous effect of it. This whole ambient glow extended to include Stephen as he began to exchange a flurry of speedy blows with his best friend. The sight inspired angelic paintings, perhaps a story of rebellion in heaven. This had all been the inspiration for Jacob's name for the true form of the Keyblade: Paradise Lost
Stephen exchanged blows with Jacob. He rarely ever fought anyone who could fully keep up with his speed. Sparks showered off of their keyblades with each strike. Every movement sent a dull pain through his shoulder. Stephen wouldn't be able to keep this up forever. Jacob, things aren't what they used to be, we need to stand together. The two were locked in flawless combat, never hitting the other, and never having a clear advantage. Stephen effortlessly dodged and blocked everything Jacob had thrown at him, but Jacob had done the same. Stephen was off the ground and doing his usual flips and aerial maneuvers while Jacob was solid on the ground.
Stephen swung hard and finally hit Jacob, but at the cost of landing his own strike Jacob had hit Stephen as well. They went flying backwards and had landed in the sand. Everything was back to normal. Stephen got up slowly, but Jacob was already in front of him. Stephen swung at Jacob's legs and Jacob had swung upwards. Jacob hit the ground hard as Stephen was launched into the air. Stephen hit the ground hard and he dropped Abyssal ruins. He couldn't feel his left arm and his body ached. Jacob sat up still gripping Paradise Lost. Stephen did his best to get to his feet. He managed, but he struggled.
This Will Be Awkward  - Page 3 Empty Re: This Will Be Awkward
The fight was truly a traumatic scene, Stephen was pushing himself hard now to block Jacob's blows and lashed out with more wild and frenzied strikes which scarcely kept the delicate balance of the fight going for however little longer it could. The weight of Jacob's strikes now uninhabited by the heavy chains had incredible force, the moment was so fluid so much more free. Jacob had never felt so light able to swing with reckless abandon and still defend because of the ease of moment he had with his keyblade in this form. He started to lose himself to shed the things clouding his mind in this fight he would only realize in retrospection that the reason he could let go of all that pent up stress and let his full aggravation flow out was because it was Stephen he was fighting. He was unable to hide it as he went at him that all the frustration wasn't truly at Stephen himself but just at the situation as a whole. He had started to feel lonely and desperate seeing Stephen involved with a light blader and a girl. Stephen was the last link he had to before all this started and he couldn't lose that now.
The flow of the fight was intense as Jacob started to quicken his pace as his mind cleared, they danced about the cloud landscape Stephen flips and ariel gymnastics giving him great mobility but Jacob was no slouch closing ground in leaps and bounds as Stephen was making it. Stephen could sense Jacob was getting into the zone almost a trance like state even his breathing had become almost normal and not the labored hard breaths Stephen had to take. As Stephen made a dive to Jacob's side into a hand stand to strike a quick hit at his side the stalemate was broken. Jacob had read the move first jumping already to Stephen's destination of the dive and with a sharp kick sent him sprawling off course and Jacob pressed the advantage with an arcing overhead smash of Paradise Lost.
Stephen was caught off guard by the kick and was sent flying to his side. He dug his Keyblade into the sand and lifted himself into a hand stand. He blocked Paradise lost with one foot. Stephen spun and kicked Jacob in the face and getting back to his feet. Stephen held his side as he tried to catch his breath. "Jacob, it's over. I'm done fighting you." Stephen spoke between each breath. Abyssal Ruins faded away and Stephen fell to his knee placing his and in the sand to keep from falling completely. "We're friends, and we shouldn't be fighting against each other like this. You can have your way of thinking, but I'll keep mine." Stephen struggled to keep talking instead of trying to breathe. The clouds closed in again threatening to storm again. Lightning flashed in the distance and the waves crashed on the shore as the winds picked up. "Just take time to think about everything I'm saying."
